A friend of mine had a tubular turbo manifold made for his 240 out of carbon steel. He needed a waste gate so, using a cast greddy for a template, had one made for @ $500. Excellent quality welds and reinforcements. I understand that stainless expands a lot when heated so they crack and inconel withstands cracking more but why not carbon steel? Lower coefficient of expansion and 1/4 the material cost of stainless. Other than rusting, what's the problem?
